Times: Packing out from 7am. Clearing up must begin by 5.15pm.
Pitch maintenance: Empty boxes and rubbish must be kept out of sight under stalls. Excess amounts must be placed at designated points for collection by Hackney Council. You will be expected to support the staged introduction of environmentally-friendly packaging and waste disposal.
Public liability insurance: Certificate to be available for inspection on request.
Payments: Stallholders on the street pay a fee of £15 per pitch to Hackney Council (£17 per pitch for fruit and vegetable stalls), and £25 to Broadway Market Projects. Stallholders in the schoolyard pay £35 to Broadway Market Projects only, reduced to £25 if paid four weeks in advance. All fees must be available for collection before trading commences.
Standard of products: All items offered for sale must be at least equal in quality to those originally presented to, and approved by, Broadway Market Projects and Broadway Market Traders’ and Residents’ Association. Specific claims (organic status for example) must be backed by the relevant documentation.
Refrigeration: Fresh meat and fish must be refrigerated or packed in ice to meet health and hygiene regulations.
Food hygiene certificates must be held by all stallholders selling fresh food and drink.
Presentation of stalls: The market’s reputation for quality must be maintained. Pitches should be well-presented, and all goods attractively displayed and clearly priced.
Pitch tenure: There is no guarantee that specific pitch spots will be reserved for specific stallholders. We endeavour to keep changes to a minimum, and we avoid unhealthy competition, however priority is given to the flow of the market and the needs of customers.
Road closures: Broadway Market is closed to traffic, apart from deliveries, from 6.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday. Parking bays in side streets are open to all.
Toilets: Stallholders should make their own arrangements until toilets are supplied by Hackney Council.
